After hearing of the passing of Jerry Falwell, I couldn't pass up this opportunity to bring up one of the numerous cases covered in my Con Law class over the past semester. Basically, A public figure cannot claim Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress for a parody advertisement absent actual malice. It's the price one pays for being a public figure, and quite honestly the cost of doing business. Besides my appearance with him via satellite on CNN's Crossfire (No, not the Paul Begala, James Carville v. Tucker Carlson and Pat Buchanan slug fest) In which I received a compliment from him. (We'll more of "I have no doubt that these two are fine young men...") during an interview concerning a minor piece of litigation I was involved in the late '90's. (Google's amazing, you should try it some day). Not to sound like an echo of my brother (which usually happens without even trying), I wonder what Peter is going to say at the Pearly Gates? ("Tinky Winky" no, really? You can't be serious. Wait here, I need to run this by the Big Boss first.) WDR P.S. As for Spring Law School Grades, they are slowly trickling in. I might or might not comment on them in the near future.
