Law School Frustration - FLP Style “The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.” "Get in the boat, do your job, and come back" Ok. I need to vent. One of the biggest gripes about the Now I'm not against the purpose of the policy. Improving bar passage rates has positives for everybody. The reputation of the school goes up, hiring prospects increase, and, to paraphrase my corps professor, there is "more beer for everybody." However, the implementation has been, for lack of a better phrase, an utter disaster. As I understand it, the administration has given the faculty free reign to develop this policy, but it has devolved into a situation where the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. As for the student response, well, as expected, it has not been pretty. The forum this afternoon turned into a shouting match. It was a situation were cooler heads needed to prevail. Solutions needed to be presented, and I'll commend one professor for attempting to strike a middle ground. Whatever solutions are going to be proposed are not going to appeal to everybody, and everybody must understand this. I second the need for a joint faculty student committee to address this problem. It would allow the process of refinement to continue and minimize distractions throughout the rest of the semester.
