The Summer Slowwww Season..... After surviving my first year of Law School, I was hoping to have some sort of Summer Employment in the law in order to apply the material that I have learned. Well, to use a legal euphemism, the jury is still out on this one. So the options are the following: 1: Keep my current employment and work my butt off over the Summer. excitement Score - 2 (D-land during the summer, you figure it out) Costs - 0 (Making money rather then spending money) Career focus - -5 (Only If I can transfer to corporate would this become a positive number) 2. Register for Summer School (Advance Criminal Procedure) and pick up three units Excitement score - 6 (It is still school after all) Costs - $3400 ($830 a unit, not including books) Career Focus - 8 (I've always wanted to do criminal work - this helps with the "Jail to Bail" aspects.) 3. Semester Abroad in Salzberg, Austria for International Criminal Law excitement Score - 10+ (International Criminal Law in the EU, with a chance to meet Justice Kennedy while the World Cup is going on in Germany) Costs - $4500+ (Not including airfare and personal expenses) Career Focus - 9 (The subject is not really tested on the bar, but it would look great on a resume if I decide to work for the Feds) 4. Rest up after the first year and prepare to hit the ground running for 2L Excitement Score - 4 (being born and raised in SoCal can make all of the summer options boring, besides I'm not much of a beach person) Costs - negligible (food, movies, gas, coffee, etc...) Career Focus - 0 (like soda, tastes great and provides a caffeine rush, but has no nutritional value whatsoever.) So I guess I really need to make up my mind, choices choices........WDR
