Just a Personal Musing... Well, what can I write about? I could talk about the political ramifications to Major League Baseball due to the steroid scandal. Nope, No one can hit a little white ball with red strings without some type of enhancement, whether medicinal or in vision. So I'm going to avoid that one. I could talk about how President Bush's Social Security reform plan is dead on arrival (but then that would just shift the political focus back on the war in Iraq, where it should be). Now for my two cents on the matter (get it "two cents"!). Don't touch it. Instead, we should reform the estate tax so that a portion of the estate is rolled into Social Security. Considering that a majority of wealth in this country is held by those over 65, the upcoming "baby bust" (the reverse of the baby boom) will fund the the social security coffers without having to institute new taxes or increasingly risky investment schemes. The core issue however is not being addressed. The shift to a service economy, with low paying wages and limited hours, is leading to the decrease of Social Security funding. So now that is out of the way, I could write about increasing social frustration to companies who are deciding to automate service sector jobs. The New York Times ran a great little article about how people are tired of putting up with vague terms and automated phone trees. I have always insisted on hitting '0' on the phone rather then sit through phone tree hell, for just a quick little question or transaction. Face to face interaction is needed to get shit done! (my blog, my rules) Or, I can talk about the status of my Law School applications......Or not. Well then that leaves the weather. Crap, it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so forget that. How bout you? WDR.....
