If pictures say a thousand words, then this one says SUCK!!! In the first annual film review for this blog, I am going to review Timeline. How do I put it softly, aw screw it, this movie blew! First off, a book is always ten times better then the movie. And in the case of any Michael Crichton novels, the book is a hundred times better. I could believe the action in the novel, but the movie just put me to sleep. Too much of the back-story was implied rather then built up. Second, a book can allow the reader multiple angles on a story. It is not the same as camera angles. The reader is able to see character interactions, the thoughts of the character themselves, and one has to imagine the setting of the story. The author may describe the setting, but the descriptions are merely parameters of what one has to view in their mind. Lastly, the movie had no hook or draw. A good story is able to draw in the viewer and keep them enthralled for the duration of the film. Timeline lost me right after the opening scene (I recognized the first scene from the book, but after that, it was all muddled, I kept feeling like I was missing something.) Total rating = :-( x2 Just another rant...WDR
