As much as fellow Democrats need to stick up for their respective elected officials, I have decided to jump ship and vote for Cruz. The last straw for Davis was the fee increase for the CSU system, cutting back on student services and classes while increasing fees (paying more getting less, seem like a trend these days (anybody notice the decreasing size of cereal boxes in the stores?) ) A few reasons why I am voting for Cruz 1. I agree with his position that the rich in California need to pay more in taxes. (The lower classes are indentured servants to the rich and can barely afford medical and educational services) 2. I voted for Cruz in the last election (so at least I will be approving the job of one politician in Sacramento). 3. All of the Republicans are racist bigots, not only in skin color but in religious discrimination as well (a little harsh but true, I have first hand experience in debating former AG Lungren (anybody who can find my MSNBC debate gets bonus points). Wilson left us with the 187 fiasco. Ward Connelly needs to sit down and shut up! Simon is toast, the only support he is going to get is from Orange County Republicans who have too much $, not enough brains! And McClintock is not known well enough to make inroads against Arnold ("Vote for me if you want bad acting to become the official state pastime", we will be the only state in the nation who will have the governors' speeches reviewed by Ebert and Roeper!) 4. Cruz as been in the state capital long enough to understand how bad the budget crisis really is and the confusing constitutional issues required to pass appropriations legislation. I wish I could say that my reasons are based on a careful weighing of policy from each of the candidates, but in this case, my decision is similar to picking a horse at the racetrack. I pick the candidate that probably has the best chance of winning and shares similar views to mine. Face it; we do not know every aspect of policy among all of the 100 something candidates, there is just not enough time. In the end we have to pick a candidate that we can feel will do the job right no matter how bad it gets. Davis is in no way in the same boat as Clinton (More on this in a second post to follow shortly), but the situation is so messed up it's time to give someone else the whip.
